# My Review of SAECO HD8857/47 Philips Exprellia EVO Fully Automatic Espresso Machine
If you are like me, you love coffee. You love the aroma, the flavor, the crema, and the ritual of making and drinking a perfect cup of espresso. You also love convenience, customization, and hygiene. You want a machine that can do it all for you, with minimal effort and maximum satisfaction.
That's why I was thrilled when I got the chance to try out the SAECO HD8857/47 Philips Exprellia EVO Fully Automatic Espresso Machine. This machine is a dream come true for coffee lovers who want to experience the fine art of making coffee at home.
## What's so great about this machine?
The SAECO HD8857/47 Philips Exprellia EVO Fully Automatic Espresso Machine has many features that make it stand out from other espresso machines on the market. Here are some of them:
- It brews 7 coffee varieties: espresso, cappuccino, hot water, café crème, frothed milk, espresso macchiato, and latte macchiato. You can choose your favorite drink with a touch of a button on the LCD display.
- It has an integrated milk jug and frother that automatically froths milk for your cappuccinos and lattes. The milk jug is detachable and can be stored in the fridge when not in use.
- It has a ceramic grinder that gently grinds fresh beans without overheating them. You can adjust the grind size from fine to coarse with 8 settings, depending on your preference and coffee blend.
- It has a crema adjustment knob that lets you control how much crema you want on your espresso. You can turn it left for a thick crema layer and an intense and full-bodied espresso; or turn it right for a smooth, lighter tasting coffee with less crema.
- It has a pre-brewing function that moistens the ground coffee before brewing to enhance its flavor. You can also use ground coffee instead of beans if you prefer.
- It has a removable brewing group that can be easily cleaned under the tap. This ensures optimal hygiene and performance of your machine.
- It has an automatic carafe cleaning function that removes milk residues from the frothing mechanism after each use. The hygienic performance is certified by an independent German test institute (VDE).
- It has an automatic de-scaling cycle that alerts you when it's time to de-scale your machine and guides you through the process.
- It has two stainless steel boilers that ensure fast heating and consistent temperature for your drinks.
## How does it perform?
I have been using this machine for about two weeks now and I am very impressed by its performance. The machine is easy to set up and operate. The LCD display shows clear instructions and icons for each function. The machine is also relatively quiet compared to other machines I have used before.
The quality of the coffee is superb. The espresso comes out with a rich aroma, flavor, crema, and temperature. The cappuccino and latte are creamy and frothy. The hot water function is handy for making tea or instant drinks. The café crème option is similar to drip coffee but more flavorful.
The customization options are great too. I can adjust the strength, volume, temperature, grind size,
and crema level of my drinks according to my mood or taste buds. I can also save my preferences in two user profiles so I don't have to change them every time.
The cleaning process is simple and convenient too. The machine reminds me when to rinse or de-scale it. The milk jug can be easily detached from the machine
and rinsed under running water or washed in
the dishwasher. The brewing group can be removed
and rinsed as well.
## What are some drawbacks?
No product is perfect though,
and this machine does have some drawbacks
that may bother some users:
- It's expensive: This machine costs around $2000,
which may be too pricey for some people who just want
a basic espresso maker.
- It's bulky: This machine measures 245 x 420 x 360 mm
